Biography
Currently, Tania has moved back to Zurich,
Switzerland, where she continues pursuing the path of
knowledge and refining her style by exchanging
information with many modern masters of body
techniques...
In Brazil she has studied dance with Breno Mascarenhas and Julio Vilan. Tania has also studied theatre with the Tapa group and Zé Maria Carvalho (coreographer and ballet dancer), learning how to integrate consciousness with movement. With Angela Hosse, she started her path in Reiki and with Márcia de Luca of CYIMA (representant of Deepak Chopra in Brazil), joined Yoga and the Ayurvedic science. Tania also graduated from the União Nacional de Yoga (National Yoga Union) of São Paulo, hence becoming a professional yoga instructor. Tania is a member of the Yoga Alliance.
Tania has studied body techniques for several years.
Her professional path has gone through various phases,
all of which contributed to the forming of an
individual style which is now part of the new
generation of yoga teachers.
While in Thailand, Tania
came into contact with the wonderful technique of Thai massage,
also known as passive yoga. She studied the technique in Brasil
with Javier
Pizarro Concha and in California with Saul
David Ray and Janice
Vitavec. Having mastered the technique, Tania began
applying it to her own style and after gathering all of this wisdom,
Tania went back to São Paulo and taught Thai Yoga®
courses and individual and small group classes. She has completed
her professinal yoga education at the Yogabindu School with Pedro
Kupfer, over 600 hours certified by the YOGA ALLIANCE.
In
her classes, she applies her vast knowledge to each individual student according
to the necessities of his own body and stresses the importance of breathing
in every asana (yogic posture). When the person breathes correctly, the asanas
release the flow of vital energy through out the body and consequently diminish
everyday stress. Tania also shows each individual how to gain muscular strength,
flexibility and equilibrium regardless of weight or physical limits. Awakening
the student to the subtlenesses of his inner voice, the class tranquilizes
the mind and heart at the same time being dynamic and full of energy.
There are various styles of yoga and every teacher ends up creating his personal
style. Coming into contact with Tania’s style can be liberating for
the body and clearing for the mind.
“I look at yoga as a spiritual path. The breathing techniques and the
physical postures are just the tip of the iceberg.”
Tania Sturzenegger
